St Lawrence on song

NSWIS athlete Ben St Lawrence has continued his good form in 2012 by being crowned Australian champion in the men’s 10000m.

Lawrence clocked a time of 28:35.92 to finish behind Kenyan Emmanuel Bett, however as the first Australian across the line he was crowned national champion. Lawrence needs to run a ‘B’ qualifying time prior to the August 2013 deadline to secure his place at the 2013 IAAF Athletics World Championships.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Ian Rayson also competed strongly over the weekend, finishing second in the men’s 50km walk at Australian Racewalking Championships.

Rayson clocked an ‘A’ qualifying time of 4:00:29 to stake his claim for a spot at next year’s world championships.
