Skiers show their style

Men’s moguls skiers Matt Graham, Brodie Summers and Sam Hall were the only NSWIS athletes in action overnight, but all three marked their Olympic debuts with solid performances at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park in Sochi.

Graham was the standout performer of the trio as he finished seventh in the event, navigating his way through the qualifiers until the second final where he posted a score of 23.31. just 0.01 points away from progressing to the third final.

Summers progressed to the first final before finishing 13th overall, being nudged out of the second final by 0.03 points after the run of eventual champion Alex Bilodeau, and Hall came in 24th after both qualifying rounds.

All three athletes will undoubtedly be proud of their efforts on the Sochi slopes, and with an average age of just 21 it appears the NSWIS trio will be on the Olympic stage for many years to come.

Tonight and early tomorrow morning Sydney time at the Games, fellow NSWIS Olympic debutants Kent Callister (@kentcallister) and Nathan Johnstone (@Nate_johnstone) will get their first taste of Sochi action tonight, as both athletes contest the men’s snowboard half-pipe.
