Rising star Joany Badenhorst capped her snowboarding season in style with a silver medal at the 2015 IPC Snowboard World Championships over the weekend.

Competing in the women’s banked slalom, the 20 year old recorded a time of 1:42.87 to claim silver behind Paralympic gold medallist Bibian Mental-Spee of the Netherlands.

Badenhorst’s achievement was made all the more remarkable considering she was competing with a broken wrist following a fall in training last week.

The world championship silver medal is Badenhorst’s fifth medal of the season following three silver and one bronze at various World Cup events.
