Nelson and Samuels win gold in Sydney

NSWIS athletes Ella Nelson and Dani Samuels have continued her winning ways by securing gold medals at the Sydney Track Classic.

Nelson clocked a Rio qualifying time of 23.12 seconds to win the women’s 200m and post her third straight victory in the event at the Sydney Track Classic, while Samuels notched her 10th Rio qualifier in the women’s discus with a throw of 63.25m to triumph.

Nelson and Samuels will return to the competition arena in Sydney at the end of March for the 2016 Australian Athletics Championships, with both athletes looking to defend their national titles.

Elsewhere, Michelle Jenneke made her Indoor World Championship debut in the USA by placing 10th in the women’s 60m hurdles.
