Matildas heading to Germany

Seven NSWIS soccer players have been selected on the Australian Matildas team to contest the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.

Selected on the team are NSWIS athletes Ellyse Perry, Heather Garriock, Teigen Allen, Caitlin Foord, Servet Uzunlar, Kyah Simon and Leena Khamis, accounting for one third of the 21 strong squad.

Australia has been drawn in a group with Brazil, Norway and Equatorial Guinea, and will take on Brazil in their first match on June 29.

The 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup takes place in Germany from June 26-July 17 2011.
