Hough begins with a bang

Up and coming sprinter Nicholas Hough made the perfect start to his 2013 athletics season with two gold medals at the Hunter Track Classic over the weekend.

Hough’s first gold came in the men’s 110m where he clocked a wind assisted personal best of 14.06, before backing up to set a new meet record of 20.92 en route to victory in the men’s 200m.

The youngster was joined on the winners podium by several fellow NSWIS athletes. 

Ryan Gregson triumphed in the men’s 800m by defeating reigning national champion Johnny Rayner; Anthony Alozie took gold in the men’s 100m in 10.66; and Paralympic silver medallist teamed with several athletes, including Canadian Paralympic gold medallist Michelle Stilwell, to win the mixed 2000m wheelchair team pursuit.

NSWIS athletes James Kaan and Matt Outzen rounded out the medals, winning silver in the men’s 1500m and javelin, respectively.
