Gregson stakes claim for London

NSWIS athlete Ryan Gregson has his sights set on London after clocking an ‘A’ qualifying time in the men’s 1500m over the weekend.

Gregson finished in a season’s best time of 3:33.92 to finish 11th at the Doha, Qatar leg of the 2012 Diamond League to stake his claim for a spot on the Australian Olympic team.

The time is Gregson’s second fastest over the distance and his first ‘A’ qualifying time, and after winning the Olympic trial earlier this year there is a strong chance he will earn his first Olympic call up later this year.

Elsewhere, NSWIS athlete Chloe Esposito finished eighth at the 2012 Modern Pentathlon World Championships in Rome.

Esposito led her group in qualifying before continuing to perform strongly throughout the final stages, furthering her credentials as she looks for a berth at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
